Modvion builds wind turbine towers in wood. They use a technique called Laminated Veneer Lumber where multiple layers of thin wood are assembled with adhesives. The end result is strong and much lighter than steel. Because of the lighter weight, the tower can be made higher with the same weight and the foundation can be lighter which saves money. The tower can be transported to site in small parts. An additional advantage is that a 150 meter wooden tower captures 2.000 tons of CO2.
