More than 1/3 of the food that we produce is wasted. Wasting meat and fish is especially detrimental because the carbon footprint is about 7 times higher than other food products. Aminic has developed a handheld device that can be used to instantly measure the freshness of meat and fish. It is basically an electronic nose that detects a biomarker for decay. It can also predict the real expiration date and therefore show us if a product can still be used. Because being too cautious leads to a lot of food waste.
