Cryomation developed an alternative method for burial or cremation. The body of the deceased is immersed in liquid nitrogen to a temperature of -196 degrees at which point it becomes very brittle. The brittle body is then cryolated into small particles allowing for the removal of any implants. The water is removed by freeze drying after which the remains are sterilized and put into a biodegradable container for burial. The water is removed by freeze drying, the remains are sterilised and put into a bio-degradable container, ready for burial in a much smaller space than traditional burial. This cryomation process reduces CO2 emissions and allows the remains to completely decompose within 12 month and return to the organic lifecycle.
